hi there…
I’m professional makeup artist Amy Strozzi, & this is the latest edition of my ever evolving project The Beauty Manifesto…
What is The Beauty Manifesto?
The Beauty Manifesto was born a million years ago (2008) & has existed as a Tumblr page, a very cool Wix site, multiple versions of fancy Wordpress blogs & now a Substack.
It’s always been a place of art, commerce & discovery; with musings & imagery, product rec’s, interviews & special features. I’m launching again on an inspired whim & figuring it out as I go, so you’ll be experiencing the growing pains with me in this next iteration. Fingers crossed for epic content & minimal cringe.
Who is The Beauty Manifesto for?
The Beauty Manifesto is for Makeup lovers & beauty enthusiasts of all ages & kinds; for those who love to discover a new product, artist, technique, or simply need beauty shopping guidance on the most basic level. People who appreciate an industry musing or an advice share. All from the perspective of a seasoned professional; while also featuring other amazing artists, cool friends, & people I admire myself.
Who Am I?
I was born in MA but raised in a tough city in CT, followed by a 3 year stint as a little punk rocker going to Fashion School in Boston in the mid 90s. I eventually left New England to experience the wonder of NYC; it was there I found the nerve to pursue makeup as a career. It was not long after that I made a cross country move to sunny Los Angeles (with my brilliant friend John Ruggiero), slept on a few couches (in true Hollywood origin story style) while working for free assisting my idols, learning the ropes of what was once a very guarded & exclusive industry. I was soon offered a role leading the epic beauty team on a show called So You Think You Can Dance, which at the time was one of the most artistically creative shows on TV when it came to glam. My team & I garnered a handful of Emmy nominations as I learned all the tricks of the trade being the personal artist to the coolest host in the game, Cat Deeley. My Celebrity career took off from there & was filled with amazing clients, Red Carpets, one of a kind experiences, & endless special moments.
In 2018, I reconnected with the Love of My Life from my college days in Boston (20+ years later) & lo & behold, we were still madly in love. Two years of long distance travel (& several 1st class upgrades, thanks Alaska Airlines) finally led to my decision to relocate while half the world shut down in 2020.
Here I am today, an artist/human with West Coast vibes & a New England core, entering the second half of life with new eyes, new perspectives & new projects. Surrounded by love & seasons, curious about the ever evolving industry I’m in & a huge desire to share what & whom I know with you all.
Cheers to you being here & thanks for stopping by!
